KPop Stuff That Makes Me Happy(^ω^)

I've accumulated quite a bit of fangirling material over the last few weeks. Thanks to my friends for enabling this addiction!!

My friend went to Korea to go to the Big Bang concert and brought me back the TOP Highcut magazine.
Fantastic TOP indeed ^o^

Ahhhh so many adorable TOP pics hehehe

She also got me the Se7en album.

My friend, who lives in Korea, randomly surprised me with this. She knows Taecyeon is my fave 2PM member because he used to be my Facebook profile picture HAHAHA
What a considerate friend XD

This magazine weighs a ton. I can't believe she mailed me this...not that I am complaining whatsoever.
Sexy back kekeke

And...this is currently my wallpaper for obvious reasons.
He needs to be my husband hahahaha

I ordered the latest Big Bang CD off ebay. This thing is so damn heavy. Was it really necessary to make the cover out of metal?!

The back

Fantastic Baby!

I buy CDs but never use them since everything is on itunes these days. I just like to take an ogle at them every so often hahahhaa

Shinhwa is baaaack!!!
They're like the Korean version of Backstreet Boys lol been around since the 90s.
I love that they are still together after all these years.
Plus Eric is still supah hawwwt!! These men sure age well! ♥_♥

Rimmel HD Glam'Eyes Union Jack Palette: English Oak

A few weeks ago, Walgreens had a 50% off sale on all Rimmel products.
Being the weakling that I am when it comes to sales, I bought the Rimmel HD Glam'Eyes Union Jack Palette in 002 English Oak.

I was attracted to the copper & rusty red shades in this palette. Not your typical neutral brown palette.
One thing I don't like is the design of the palette. The red & copper shades are hard to reach with a bigger brush or finger since they are so tiny!
You need to be very precise when dipping your brush into the palette to get the shade you want.

The shadows are super pigmented and easy to swatch. The colors are very intense.
I have been obsessed with rusty reds and copper shadows lately. The dark brown has a bit of glitter in it but it's not chunky & is barely visible when applied.

I used the brown over the entire lid then used the rusty red in the crease.

Then I lined the lower lash line with the brown and copper and highlighted with the highlight shade.

Love this palette!! The shadows don't fade which is a huge plus.
I hate when shadows fade into a dull color & end up all looking the same on your eyes by the end of the day.

These palettes are really cheap, about $5 at drugstores.

I used Mac Fluidline in Blacktrack to line my eyes. I find that it does not smudge on me anymore now that the gel liner has dried up a bit. So if you want your gel liner to stop smudging, let it dry out a bit!

I painted my nails with China Glaze Ray-Diant, which is part of their new Prismatic Collection
Ray-Diant has a greenish-gold shimmer with multi-colored glitters throughout.

It is definitely very pretty and unique but...I'm not blown away.
From the reviews I've read, I thought it'd be a bit more...prismatic? I don't find them holographic either, which is what they are described to be.
Or maybe I own too much glitter nail polish already and nothing can really wow me anymore hahaha

These can be found at Sally's for about $6.99.

This song is so catchy even though I am not a big fan of Shinee. The original video is lame but this dance version is awesome!!
Damn, they can dance.
Damn, that guy with the horrid long hair...wtf? Did he really not protest after seeing himself in the mirror?

Taiwan Trip: Coffee Alley

My favorite coffee shop in Taipei is Coffee Alley. It's one of the most popular coffee shops in the city, with 6 different locations.
The cafe serves a wide variety of coffees, teas, sandwiches, and desserts.

The atmosphere is very cozy, with plush chairs to sit in.
There is a one drink minimum for each person.
I ordered the iced fruit tea, which is one of their most popular drinks. Very light and refreshing, it was flavored with passion fruit, orange, and apples.

This is the Smoked Beef Tenderloin Sandwich.
It is similar to a pastrami sandwich. Except there was a sweet mustard spread. Why are western dishes always sweet in Asia?!
I still thought it was rather tasty. All the ingredients were very fresh.

Dessert was what I was most looking forward to. Coffee Alley is most well known for their waffle desserts.
I picked the Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream Waffle. So delicious!!
The waffles are very soft and fluffy, different from the Belgian waffles served here. It was served with a scoop of strawberry ice cream and a scoop of custard cream. Ah-mazing!!

Highly recommend this place! It's a lovely place to eat & chat...and rest after shopping for hours XD
Reservations are recommended, always always packed at this place.

One of the only outdoorsy things I did in Taiwan was go check out this crazy bridge thing.
It's located at the top of a mountain, just a bit outside of the city. I can't remember where, sorry =X

I had to walk across this. Even though it was very secure and didn't swing, it was still freaking nerve wracking!
Knowing there's nothing but water beneath me freaked me out! Especially since I can't swim bwahahahhaa

The scenery was rather nice. There's a cafe at the top of the mountain but by the time we made it up there, we found out it was closed because it was Sunday T_T
Yes, I whined about having to climb a mountain!
Yes, I was wearing 4in heels XD

Apparently people come here to pick strawberries during the summer months.
I doubt I'd ever go do that, rather just buy them LOL

Wooot!! Very excited for this movie! Men In Black was my childhood hehehe
The Fresh Prince is still looking good :D

Red Bean Mochi Cake

Out of boredom, I baked a Red Bean Mochi Cake last week. It turned out to be super easy. I followed this tutorial.

3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 cup sugar
16oz (1lb) sweet rice flour
2 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil
few drops of vanilla extract
1 can red bean paste

In the video, she made two 9in cakes but I was lazy so I just made 1 large cake in a 9x13in pan.
Grease the pan with oil or cooking spray.

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a large bowl, beat the 3 eggs.

Add 1/2 cup oil & 2 1/2 cups milk. Mix well.

Add baking powder and sugar.
Mix until well combined, takes about 1 minute.

Add in the sweet rice flour in 3-4 parts.
Make sure to mix well before adding more flour.

Continue until all 16oz of flour are incorporated into the batter.
You will see that the batter becomes thick and a bit sticky.

Pour half of the batter into the pan.
Bake for 50 minutes.
If you are making this in 9in cake pans, bake for 25 minutes.

Cake will get crispy and start to crack a bit on the surface.
It's ok if it looks ugly, we're covering it up anyway XD

Spread the can of red bean paste evenly. I like to leave a clean edge around the cake so the filling is well sealed.

Pour the rest of the batter over the red bean filling.
Bake at 350F for another 50 minutes.

Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting and serving.

The texture is chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside.

The mochi cake gets hard after a couple days so I recommend eating it quickly ^o^
But if you put it in the toaster oven or microwave for a few minutes, it will soften up again. I prefer toasting it so the outside gets crispy again!

I have been watching Dream High 2. Despite the nonsensical storyline, I still watch because Jinwoon is so kyoooote!!!

heeeeheeee how can you not ♥ him?!

Ok, I'm done freaking out.
Will end my blabbing with Jinwoon's song! Have been obsessed with this song since he sang it in the drama XD

Taiwan Trip: Fancy Feast

For some weird reason, I always crave steak when I am in Taiwan hahaha but hardly ever crave it when I am in the US.
I was whining that I wanted steak but our eating itinerary was already quite full lol. After my persistent whining, my aunt took us to Toros Steakhouse
Nunu has taught me well. Whining does indeed get you everything you want...eventually XD

Toros is an uber hoity-toity upscale steakhouse. Due to our full eating itinerary, we only had time to go for lunch.
We were there early so the place was still pretty empty. This resulted in me shamelessly taking photos of everything ^o^
I love the decor here. Can just imagine how beautiful it is at night! Plus the chairs are so plush I could probably fall asleep in one hehe

I ordered one of the lunch set meals. Asians love having "set meals" for everything.
It started out with a basket of warm and toasty garlic bread. Bread served in Asia is never crusty like in the US. This garlic bread was soft and fluffehhh

I opted for the pumpkin soup. It was really sweet.
The gross baby food color kinda made me lose my appetite upon first glance but I got over it lol

Next course was the Caesar salad. This had a hint of sweetness.
First time in my life eating sweet Caesar Salad. Rather strange, but not bad. Just an Asian take on Caesar dressing I suppose?

For the main course I ordered the filet mignon wrapped in bacon. So good!! They cooked it perfectly medium, just like I asked.
So tender it cut like butter. I would've liked if the bacon was a bit more crisp though.

I picked creme brulee for dessert. Very creamy and not too sweet, but I've had better
The colored powder on the plate was weird too.

The set meal also came with a drink of choice which I forgot to photograph. I ordered an iced milk tea and it was the most fragrant and delicious milk tea I'd ever had. Oh, how I miss it!

Toros stores their own meat in this fancy meat case. All of their meat is imported from the US...ironic eh?
If you look carefully, you can see my judgy face...and some random dude in the background.

Meat trophy case hahahaha

This restaurant is rather pricey. I can't remember how much it was exactly but it was at least $45 a person for lunch. Dinner, of course, will be much more.
But the ambiance, service, and quality of the food are all excellent. Worth it if you are feeling fancy that day XD
Otherwise, the food is rather mediocre aside from the steak.

After the fancy feast, we went to a fancy store...Carrefour, which is similar to Walmart but not G-H-E-T-T-O hahaha
Saw some racist toothpaste. This brand translates into "black person" SMH

Do you notice the cartoon guy is black & his teeth are extra white? Omg, Asians and their ignorance of racism hahahahaa cracks me up

Instant noodle land!! Most of them were meat flavored so I couldn't bring any back to the US =_=

And spotted Siwon and Donghae from Super Junior *cue Sorry Sorry dance*

Later on that night, we continued our eating itinerary and went to AYCE hotpot.

Finished with some passion fruit because I gotta be healthy, no? =P
I lahve these!

Gikwang is so freaking adorable!!! And probably way too young for me to squee over but whatevs. *shameless* ^o^
That penguin dance is so awkward hahaha

Thanks to Vicky for always keeping me busy with new spazzing material heheee
